The Senior Workspace Engineer is a vital member of our nationwide D&D Team, based in Christchurch. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the Manu (our Citrix VDI platform) and managing its day-to-day operations. The Manu desktop is utilized across Canterbury and West Coast, making this role crucial for ensuring seamless functionality and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Manu (Citrix VDI) platform, ensuring optimal performance and user satisfaction.
  • Provide technical leadership within the team and act as an escalation point for all supported technologies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, staying abreast of industry developments and contributing to strategies to enhance Health-IT services.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and support organizational goals and health system strategies.
  • Monitor and resolve incidents and requests within agreed service levels.
  • Provide 3rd level technical support and after-hours support as needed.
  • Maintain infrastructure, technical documentation, and conduct technical peer reviews.
  • Manage the lifecycle of technology platforms, including research, testing, and implementation of new technologies.
  • Act as the technical lead for assigned projects, completing all associated activities including design, documentation, and implementation.
  • Assist in risk management, including identifying, managing, and reporting risks.
  • Contribute to professional development by completing formal training and sharing knowledge with team members.
  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team and across D&D.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Computing, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced IT professional qualifications, ideally including ITIL certification.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in managing large enterprise end-user computing/workspace environments.
  • Experience in a Senior IT Engineering role preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 technology stack.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, specifically Citrix.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide technical leadership.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in the health sector or public sector.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and other relevant tools.
  • Knowledge of video conferencing systems and integration with Teams.
  • Experience with mixed-platform environments (Windows, iOS, Android).
  • Experience with MSI-based packaging solutions.
