New Zealand Police is working with the community to make New Zealanders be safe and feel safe. With over 13,000 staff, we provide policing services 24 hours a day, every day. We operate by land, sea and air, manage over 860,000 emergency calls a year and are always actively preventing crime and crashes.
We’re working towards specific goals and targets that highlight our intent to work collaboratively with iwi and communities, other government sectors and business partners to deliver ‘Our Business’ and achieve long-term change.
Mō matou | About us
The purpose of Te Tari Pūreke, Firearms Safety Authority is to enable New Zealand to be a world leader in arms safety. We regulate and administer the Arms Act and Arms Regulations.
Our business was established to lead, operate, and modernise the firearms system. We will achieve this by building stronger relationships with those in the firearms community, creating a more efficient and effective risk-based licensing system, and improving public confidence in the firearms licensing system.
We will earn trust and confidence by working together in partnership with other policing groups, iwi, the firearms community, wider New Zealand public and other agencies and organisations to achieve collective impact.

Mō te tūnga | About the role
As senior business analyst (processes, projects and people) for the Partnerships Directorate, you will take responsibility to scope and stand-up multiple pieces of strategic work that help develop our business. You’ll be a liaison between employees and our firearms community, subject matter experts, vendors, consultants, and other organisations in the analysis, design, configuration, testing, maintenance, and handover of processes and projects that help us be more efficient, most cost effective, and more responsive to our community.
You will define and document business requirements, stakeholder requirements, business readiness assessments, current state analyses, gap analyses, and implementation plans. You'll create and contribute to high quality technical documents, communication materials and training packs. You’ll drive operational efficiencies from start to finish with the support of a small but high-performing change team and a pool of subject matter experts who want to work with you to help you succeed.
You will be experienced in facilitating workshops to identify business needs, processes, and potential solutions. Employee involvement and engagement is critical, so an understanding of engagement techniques and positive psychology is a bonus.
You will have strong research and analysis skills, able to ferret out information as needed, all the while building your network.
Most importantly, you’ll need to be able to articulate and present your findings and recommendations in a way that makes commercial sense. So, impeccable communication skills are essential, as is the ability to create outputs and artifacts that demonstrate compelling stories to your audience.
