  • Analyse global macroeconomic and financial market trends and issues
  • Advise on policy issues relating to international economic development
  • Contribute new ideas and thinking to diverse policy discussions
  • 2 positions available:  1- full-time and 1 fixed term (18 months) Wellington based roles

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role  

 

As a Senior Adviser, Economics, you will be responsible for analysing and monitoring global economic and financial trends and providing high quality advice on issues relating to international economic development. You will lead selected analytical workstreams and contribute actively towards New Zealand’s International Development Cooperation programme. You will demonstrate enthusiasm and leadership in working through complex and challenging economic issues in support of the achievement of the Ministry’s strategic priorities, including improved international development outcomes.

 

The salary range for these roles are $124,674  to midpoint $146,675. These fixed total remunerations are inclusive of our 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution and negotiable depending on skills and experience.

Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? – Who are we looking for?

 

We’d like to hear from you if you possess the following skills and experience:

  • A postgraduate tertiary qualification (preferably at Honours level or above) in economics and/or finance
  • Experience (4 years minimum) providing qualitative and quantitative economic analysis and policy advice
  • Understanding of the international economic and political environment

 

 In addition we will be looking for you to highlight the following on your application:

  • Experience researching and analysing global macroeconomic and financial markets trends
  • Advising on economic policy issues

 

Ideally you will also have a good understanding of tikanga (Māori customs and protocols), with the ability to weave te ao Māori (the Māori worldview) into your work.  If you are just starting on this journey that’s OK too – as long as you have a willingness to learn and a desire to develop your cultural capability.  As a Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner, this is important to us and we offer training and support.
