Location:    Tane Mahuta Unit, 45 Raiha Street, Porirua.

Service:      Regional Rehabilitation Service.

Contract:    Part time /Permanent - 0.93 FTE rotating/ rostered.

Salary:       Applicable PSA - step 1 to 7 as per experience - pro rata 

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) role working at Tane Mahuta, Regional Rehabilitation Services, Central Regional Forensic & Rehabilitation Inpatient Units, Te Korowai-Whāriki is required to have mental health nursing experience.  The RN practices within a multi-disciplinary team; fosters a person centred approach, inclusive of whanau participation, that supports individually identified goals within the rehabilitation framework.  The RN is part of a Team Nursing approach that commits to enhanced communication, increased patient satisfaction and patient care; research and utilisation of current best practice principles; supporting change implementation and ongoing enhancement for service quality improvement and patient safety.  The RN is a key part of the team - s involvement in change.  The RN working hours will be rostered and rotating and may work across the Capital and Coast and Hutt Valley District as required due to patient safety and workforce necessities.

Application onto the Professional Development and Recognition Programme to demonstrate level of practice is required and nurses are supported to progress within the programme.

Tane Mahuta is an open rehabilitation unit for up to 34 people within Te Korowai Whariki - s Rehabilitation Service.  This is a regional innovative supportive service working with tangata whaiora in supporting their journey with a multi-disciplinary team approach.  We advocate for best practice, sharing of ideas, and the continuum of change management processes to align with our vision.

Moū - About you

You will need to be able to work collaboratively within a team; be able to support Mental Health Support Workers (MHSW) under your direction and delegation; carry out and assist MHSW - s to undertake care activities.  You will bring your active listening skills, solution focus approach to fostering tangata whaiora to achieve their identified goals within their pathway journey.  You will have the ability to take on new learning where required to support your role within the team as well as good communication skills with your team members, tangata whaiora and whānau.  You will be proactive in ensuring all nursing led documentation reflects a person centred approach and promotes the enhancement of independence.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of clinicians who are committed to promoting excellent public relations through positive interactions with tangata whaiora, whānau and their communities.
