Job Title: Inpatient Receptionist

Where you’ll be working: 183 Pembroke Street, Waikato Hospital, Hamilton

The details: Fixed Term Part time – 32 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 7:30am - 2pm, and Fridays 7:30am till 3:30pm



This position is responsible for offering reception and administrative responsibilities to the team in a very busy environment. The successful applicant must be methodical in approach, highly organised, flexible, and have a desire to be a supportive team member and have excellent customer service skills.



Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for the ward. Receptionist’s duties include offering administrative responsibilities, welcome and greet patient and visitors who visit the ward. Coordinate front-desk activities, including distributing correspondence.


Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Maintain high standards of customer focus at all times.
  • Accurate verification, checking and recording of client/patient information/virtual boarding.
  • Completes receptionist responsibilities for waitlists, reminders, admissions, referrals, appointments and discharges
  • Accurate establishment and filing of clinical records.
  • Entering information into databases accurately and real time, and in accordance with relevant patient information systems guidelines.

The introductory role in a hospital's front desk operations, Inpatient Receptionists are responsible for greeting, admitting, discharging, transfer of patient staying within the ward and managing patient records. They ensure the smooth running of the reception area and provide essential support to healthcare staff.
