This role is fixed term for six months, located in central Wellington.

About us:

The Ministry for Regulation is a newly established small Government agency with a big job to do.

We're charged with improving the rules and regulations imposed by Government to make them more streamlined and easier for New Zealanders to navigate.

We are a small group of dedicated professionals, working in a 'can do' environment.

About the Role:

In this fixed term role, you'll be part of the Communications and Engagement team, working closely with our Sector Review team. You'll play an integral role in helping the Ministry establish its engagement approach and framework, including setting up an appropriate engagement platform with supporting policy and processes.

The Sector Review team are currently working in scoping and planning the first regulatory system review, anticipated to be into the Early Childhood Education sector. You'll work closely with the team to help them plan and deliver the right methods of engagement and appropriate communications to support the review's success.

The role operates within a complex and dynamic environment that requires a capacity to exercise flexibility and sound judgement, juggle multiple tasks and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

This role is banded from $127,142 - $168,973. The successful candidate will be appointed within this range dependent on skills and experience.

About you:

We need someone with a proven track record of planning and implementing successful stakeholder engagement projects and the corresponding communications requirements, ideally in a public sector environment, working with diverse communities. You're comfortable working with senior stakeholders.

You're well practiced with managing projects. You're comfortable working in 'start-up' mode, can think with agility, bring a lens of continuous improvement, and you're happy to roll your sleeves up.

Ideally, you'll have a tertiary qualification in communications, journalism or a related discipline, have strong industry networks, and can demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.
