Houkura Independent Māori Statutory Board (Houkura) is seeking a Governance Advisor who is deeply committed to advancing Māori interests and well-being in Tāmaki Makaurau. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work directly with the Houkura Board, providing critical support and expert advice to ensure effective governance and strategic decision-making. Help achieve our vision and mission and advance the interests of Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will advise on meeting protocols, key priorities, and objectives for sound decision-making, manage Board meetings logistics – ensuring high standards in minute-taking and documentation, support Board members with essential administrative tasks and manage official information requests and develop collaborative relationships to manage relevant issues effectively.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
The successful candidate will be:
- Experienced in governance or senior administration within a kaupapa Māori or local government setting, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
- Skilled in negotiation, political acumen, and adept at managing complex stakeholder relationships.
- Ideally proficient in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga, or strongly motivated to engage with Māori culture and values.
