Pharmacy Services.  Patient centred: medicines focused

We are looking for a Qualified Pharmacist to join our team to support the education and training of our pharmacy staff. This is an exciting and varied opportunity working within an experienced team who are all passionate about the health and wellbeing of the Canterbury community.

The role is varied with the Education & Training portion being approximately 0.5 FTE. The balance of the role will be supporting the clinical Pharmacy team and undertaking other Pharmacy Services tasks as required.

The department provides regular continuing education and numerous other training opportunities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist with a good work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to work collaboratively to help others reach their potential. Hospital experience is preferred but not mandatory.  Previous education and training experience is desirable.

Ko wai koe | About You

Key tasks include

  • Development and oversight of education and training initiatives for all pharmacy staff
  • Assistance in the delivery of training to other health care professionals at Health New Zealand,  Te Whatu Ora Waitaha
  • Provision of a team based full clinical pharmacy service including medication reconciliation, therapeutic drug monitoring and answering medicines information enquiries.
  • Supervision, training and support of technicians, interns and students
  • Medication supply including dispensing

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Pharmacist who is NZ registered or with the ability to obtain a New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate
  • 5 years post-registration with 2 years hospital pharmacy experience is desirable
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications are desirable but not essential
  • Ability to supervise and train staff
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Can demonstrate a positive learning mindset
