Permanent Position 32 hours per week

 

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team to support the nurses in the care of our renal patients during their treatment in the hospital.

 

This unit is a very busy clinical area and the support of the care assistant is vital to the efficient flow of patients each day.

 

Key responsibilities of the positions will be:

 

  • To provide a high standard of environmental and equipment cleanliness
  • Management of unit waste and laundry items
  • To organise and manage the unit supplies and maintain stock levels.
  • To assist with non-nursing duties associated with patient care
  • To prepare and give out light refreshments to patients as required.
  • To provide direct patient care as delegated in association with and working along side the registered nurses.

 

Essential requirements will be:

 

  • Understanding of the requirements of Infection Control with regards to the cleanliness of the environment in the clinical area.
  • Proven ability to work as a team member
  • The ability to be flexible and work on own initiative.
  • Proven ability to be able to communicate with patients
  • Appreciation of patients with chronic illness having long term treatment.

 

Previous experience will be an advantage, but training and orientation will be provided.

 

Hours and location of work will be 32 hours per week on rostered shifts, Monday to Saturday between 7am and 11pm across all locations where the service provision is under the Renal Unit.
