Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
You will be working alongside a group of dedicated and supportive psychologist colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Child Development Centre (CDC). The CDC provides multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention for tamariki aged 0 – 19 years with developmental disabilities. The psychologists within CDC carry out diagnostic assessments with children and young adolescents with developmental disabilities.
Within this role there may be the opportunity to work as part of the Gateway Service, alongside paediatricians to provide assessment of children’s health, developmental needs, mental health, trauma, emotional and education needs. From the assessment, a multi-agency agreement is decided on with health and Oranga Tamariki services.
The position would ideally suit a psychologist with experience in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability and other common neurodevelopmental conditions. Proficiency in the administration and interpretation of psychometric instruments, in particular the WISC-V and the ADOS-2 would be an advantage. Excellent written communication skills are required as assessment report writing is a key part of the role.

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
New Zealand Psychologists Board (Te Poari Kaimātai Hinengaro o Aotearoa) registration and current annual practicing certificate (or in the process of obtaining).
Hold a post graduate qualification in clinical, educational, child and adolescent or health psychology
A full New Zealand driver's licence and the ability to travel

The service provides multi-disciplinary and individual profession comprehensive assessment and intervention for tamariki aged 0 – 19 years with developmental disabilities. The team includes Paediatricians, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Therapists, Social Workers, Visiting Neurodevelopmental Therapists, Developmental Service Coordinators, Kaitiaki and administration staff.
