Service:     Community Health Service 

Contract:   Permanent full time 

Salary:       Step 2-7 NZNO Meca -based on skills and experience 

This is a Full time role: consideration will be given to 0.8 if appropriate.

Hours of work are predominantly Monday to Friday 8-4:30pm. 

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We have a 1.0 FTE vacancy for a District Nurse within the team who will work alongside the Clinical Nurse Specialist Wound Care to provide nursing advice, education, and support for patients and their families where wounds are failing to progress.  This will include completing lower limb and Doppler assessment for people who met the criteria.

It is envisaged that this role will also support education of the DN team and assist with updating District Nurses on new products and facilitating District Nurses meeting core wound care competencies. 

This role will focus on:

1.Improving the time to Doppler and time to the healing.

2.Assessing the suitability and utilisation of equipment and consumables in collaboration with the caseload DN, the person and their family.

3.Enhancing positive health outcomes, preventing further loss of skin integrity and preventing systemic complications and self-management.

4.Providing support for complex case management in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team. 

5.Participating in the Community Specialist Wound Care service, planning, implementing and evaluating standards of care in line with evidence based practice.

6.Supporting are specific wound care education.

Moū - About you

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with a special interest in wound care who is keen to develop their skills with the support of the CNS specialist wound care and wider community team for their ongoing professional development.

The ideal candidate will be confident completing a comprehensive nursing assessment and clinical investigations to confirm underlying aetiology of ulceration, pressure injury and other non-healing wounds.  They would have successfully completed a post graduate certificate in nursing or working towards completion.
