Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Starship Community has been transformed to provide responsive community-based nursing care to infants, children, young people and families within the Auckland area. The Starship Community nursing team work in an integrated way across a number of areas of community nursing including Well Child Tamariki Ora, nursing in schools, immunisation and acute care of children.

We have permanent, full-time opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced nurse for the role of Clinical Charge Nurse (Acute team). This unique senior nursing position is responsible for the provision of clinical expertise, operational leadership and quality patient care in the Starship Community nursing team.

As a Starship Community Clinical Charge Nurse you will focus upon the day to day operational, quality and nursing leadership of two main work streams:

  • Hospital in the home- acute and long term care to mokopuna with medical needs
  • Well Child Tamariki Ora/School based health care

These two roles will work seamlessly together alongside the clinical and senior leadership teams. You will be expected to work clinically in the above work streams, however focusing predominantly upon one of these.

As an ideal candidate, you will have:

Essential:

  • A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
  • New Zealand nursing registration, RGON, RN BHSc (Nursing)
  • Postgraduate certificate/ Diploma in speciality nursing practice
  • Minimum of five years’ experience post registration in a relevant nursing specialty
  • Expert clinical practice
  • Sound understanding of professional ethics and team work
  • Hold a clean full NZ driver’s license.

Desired:

  • Working Towards or completion of Masters Degree
  • Current clinical competence in relevant place of practice
  • Experience in clinical quality and safety
  • Experience in community setting
