About the role Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

Due to an internal promotion we are looking for a Support Officer to join our International team. The role provides support for International electoral assistance programmes in accordance with agreements between the Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of the deployment of personnel internationally
  • Providing support services to Commission Technical Advisors
  • Manage programmes for international participants attending knowledge exchange events hosted in New Zealand or other countries
  • Procuring supplies for other electoral agencies and arranging for their delivery off-shore
  • Financial tracking and budgeting of expenditure for the programmes

  • Strong administration and project support experience supporting a fast-paced team
  • Be an organised planner, who loves variety in a role
  • Be competent in the use of MS packages, particularly MS Excel
  • Have experience with financial records
  • Have high attention to detail
  • Be a confident verbal and written communicator
  • A high level of professionalism and cultural awareness
  • A high level of flexibility and the ability to promptly respond to work demands

About the Electoral Commission | Te Kaitiaki Take Kōwhiri

The Electoral Commission is an independent Crown Entity who works with and through communities to inform, engage and educate New Zealanders about the value of participation, make it easy for them to enrol and vote, promote understanding of New Zealand's democratic processes, and deliver parliamentary elections and referenda.

In association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade under the New Zealand Aid Programme, the International Team provides technical assistance to electoral agencies in the Pacific and beyond to support those agencies to enhance their electoral administration capability.
