Mō te tūnga | About the role

As a Supervisor with Oranga Tamariki you will have the opportunity to lead a dynamic team and look for new collaborative and creative ways to support rangatahi and whānau through the Youth Justice process. You will gain experience mentoring and supporting your team of Social Workers by ensuring the efficient delivery of case work that fulfils Oranga Tamariki's service delivery within Youth Justice. This is more than a job, it's an opportunity to improve the lived experiences of tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and our community.  You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining protocols, processes and systems to enable full and effective delivery of social work services, you will apply the principles of mana tamaiti, whakapapa and whanaungatanga to your practice, to ensure you are responsive to tamariki and whānau Māori. 

 

We recognise the importance of kaimahi ora (staff wellbeing) and are committed to ensuring you receive regular supervision and take the necessary breaks needed to restore Oranga and wellbeing.

 

To be considered for this position you must hold a Social Work Qualification with Full Registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board

 

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

Key requirements of the role include:

  • Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of service in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and business plan priorities
  • Lead and manage a social work team including support staff, by providing an environment within which service delivery excellence can be achieved
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective management of financial resources and assets working within the site's budget
  • Hear tamariki and rangatahi voices and support them or their family/whānau to make positive changes
  • Work alongside various cultural groups and people from different backgrounds
  • Complete assessments on the child, young person, and family/whanau and develop & implement an intervention plan
  • Work alongside partners in our community, non-government organisations and state sector agencies
  • Be an advocate on behalf of tamariki to ensure they have the support and resources needed to reach their full potential
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture 
  • A Social Work Qualification with Full Registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board
